Dr. William Blickensderfer Dr. William Blickensderfer was raised on a farm in a rural area. Growing up on a farm taught him the value of hard work and responsibility. With the guidance and support of his parents, he learned the importance of honesty, empathy and compassion. They stressed the value of education and encouraged participation in extracurricular activities. Dr Blickensderfer graduated from Northwestern College of Chiropractic in 1989. At the age of 24 he started his first and only practice in Rapid City, S.D. In his 20 years of practice he has taken many hours of continuing education in treatment of extremities, rehabilitation and further diagnostic training. For relaxation he enjoys fishing, boating with his family, basketball, Tae Kwon Do, being with family and friends. His goals are competency, communication, and never ending desire to help his patients live a more pain-free and healthy life. Dr. Derek J. Nelson Dr. Derek J. Nelson is originally from Burke, a small town in south central South Dakota. It is here where he received his first chiropractic adjustment at only a few weeks old from his grandfather, Dr. JJ Nelson. Seeing his grandfather make such an impact on so many lives in a small community obviously motivated Dr. Nelson to choose a career in chiropractic. However, it was far more than his grandfather’s chiropractic adjustment that motivated his patients to come see him. It was Dr. JJ’s compassion and desire to truly help people. It is this same compassion and desire Dr. Nelson uses in assisting his patients to live a healthier lifestyle. He started his chiropractic journey at SDSU in Brookings, SD until 2004 and then finished his graduate education at Northwestern Health Science University in Minneapolis, MN and joined Blickensderfer Chiropractic, PC in 2008. When Dr. Nelson is not at the office, he enjoys running, hunting, fishing, old cars, and spending time with family. Meet the Staff Jill graduated from the University of North Dakota with a bachelor’s degree in medical technology. She worked as a medical technologist at the Clinical Laboratory of the Black Hills, where she was Hematology supervisor and student trainer/co-ordinator. After 15 years, she decided to pursue a whole different direction in healthcare. Having experienced the benefits of chiropractic care herself and seen its benefits in her family, she began working for Blickensderfer Chiropractic in 2005 where she is currently the front desk CA. She devotes times and energy to her daughter’s school, volunteering for PTA, classroom activities and recess supervision. Jill enjoys spending time with her family, boating, and gardening.
